Workers' Compensation

Compensation for Disfigurement/Scarring

Compensation for Work-Related Injuries Causing Scars, Disfigurement or Loss of Body Parts

Most injuries and occupational illnesses are treated similarly under Pennsylvania workers' compensation law. However, certain types of injuries (called specific losses) are compensated differently, including:

  • Scars (from burns, surgery or from wounds) on the face, head or neck
  • Disfigurement of the face, head or neck
  • Loss (amputation) of body parts (fingers, hands, arms or legs)
  • Paralysis of a body part
  • Blindness
  • Loss of hearing

You can receive a lump sum payment for these injuries separately from any other workers' compensation benefits. In fact, you need not have missed any work in order to file a claim and receive payment for disfigurement or scarring, but you must make a claim within 6 months of the injury.

At Woomer & Hall, our workers' comp lawyers focus on RESULTS for injured workers throughout western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia.

If you suffered scars or another type of disfiguring or paralyzing injury in a workplace accident, contact our Pittsburgh law office to speak directly with an experienced work comp attorney. We can help you understand your rights and assist you in getting all of the benefits you deserve.

Wondering how much you will receive in payment? Under Section 306(c) of the Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Act, compensation for the loss of a body part or for scars or other disfigurement is calculated by taking two-thirds of your average weekly wage and multiplying it by a set number of weeks. We can do the calculation for you and show you what your benefit will be.

The attorneys at Woomer & Hall are aggressive advocates dedicated to protecting injured workers. Contact our law office or call 1-800-686-0848. Your initial consultation is free. We charge no attorneys' fees or costs of any kind unless we recover compensation for you.
